Consultation on the future of the informatics profession from FEDIP, in collaboration with the NHS in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, opens 4th May.
The Federation of Informatics Professionals (FEDIP) are pleased to announce the consultation “Becoming the Profession” will open on 4th May 2021 and will close on 1st June 2021.
FEDIP is supported by our Professional Body members to develop a professional landscape for Digital, Data, Information and Technology Experts working in health and social care. The aim of this consultation is to gather the views of all those working in digital health and social care, to create real change within the profession.
The Topol Report introductory letter to the Secretary of State stated:
“The new medicine as envisioned will require extensive education and training of the clinician workforce and the public, with cultivation of a cross-disciplinary approach that includes data scientists, computer scientists, engineers, bioinformaticians, in addition to the traditional mix of pharmacists, nurses and doctors”.
To help achieve this, FEDIP offers Health and Care Informatics professionals an accredited path to professional status. We are committed to achieving this by providing a simplified and attainable professional standard for all practitioners. We believe that a high professional standard combined with a supportive community empowers practitioners to drive digital change forward within health and care.

We hope to use the responses from this consultation to learn more about those working in informatics in Health and Care, their current roles, the current support available for informatics professionals, their views on Professional Bodies and what professionals would like to see in the future.
The consultation is open to all those working in Health or Care whose role includes any aspect of Informatics. We want to hear your responses so we can help build a profession that best serves you.
